The essence of meditation is a detached observation or witnessing of whatever happens inside (the body, mind, and emotions) and outside (the world around you) without reaction or judgment. Through learning to observe your thoughts and emotions you settle your awareness in the silent stillness of your being.
Although there are many meditation techniques, meditation is not a technique. Meditation is the practice of witnessing. Meditation gives you an opportunity to disidentify from your body, mind, and emotions and experience your inner being. It allows you to step out of the chattering mind and transform your beliefs and conditionings into a purposeful life.
